Satsuriku no Tenshi is one of the anime that I’m currently watching this summer.
In Satsuriku no Tenshi, we have the main character, Rachel, who is stuck in a strange building. And the building is filled with people who tried to kill her on every floor.
And we also have Zack, who wanted to kill Rachel at first, ended up working together with her so then he can escape from the strange building alive.
The premise of the anime itself is interesting enough for me to give this anime a try despite me who don’t watch a lot of horror anime.
But the review about the anime is pretty divided here. We have a group of people who enjoy the anime and we also have another group who think that the anime is horrible.
It shouldn’t be surprising to anyone here.
But then again, it got me thinking. Why do people think that the anime is so bad? And does the anime is bad as what they say?

Why some people think that the anime is horrible
Before I begin, I have to let you know that I didn’t go all over the Internet just to find out why people think that the anime version of Satsuriku no Tenshi is horrible.
All the opinions that I list down here are only based on what I discover from the comment section of a website.
I can’t say for sure if other people also share the same opinion as these people who commented on this website.
But then again, I won’t be surprised if they do.
So, here are some of the reasons why they think that Satsuriku no Tenshi anime is horrible.
It’s a horrible video game to anime adaptation
I won’t deny that there are some poorly video game adaptations out there. In fact, I even wrote this blog post a long time ago talking about the same issue.
Sure, I won’t deny that some video game adaptations are just plain horrible.
But not all of them are horrible. In fact, there are quite a few video game adaptations that are truly amazing. One of the few that I can recall is Granblue Fantasy, God Eater and even Tales of Zestiria.
Going back to Satsuriku no Tenshi, is the anime adaptation that horrible?
Based on the trailer I’ve seen on Steam, the anime version isn’t that different from the video game version.
Shouldn’t we rejoice that the anime version is more or less the same as the video game version but with more depth?
It’s hard to say how close it is to the game since I’ve never played the game before. But for me, I’m okay with it as long as the anime adaptation is as close as the game version.
Of course, they need to add more details in the anime version to make the story more sensible.
But to say that Satsuriku no Tenshi anime is horrible only because it’s a video game adaptation is rather unfair.
It doesn’t feel like a horror anime
To be honest, I’m not even sure how the industry in general classify the anime to be a horror anime.
Will the anime become a horror anime because it has gore and violence elements?

If that’s the case, then it’s true that Satsuriku no Tenshi is a horror anime simply because it ticks the checkbox.
You don’t have to watch until the latest episode just to see the gore and violence in the anime. Even the first episode is more than enough for you to witness that.
When it comes to the level of gore and violence, it all depends on how much you can tolerate.
For some, the gore and violence presented in Satsuriku no Tenshi are mild. After all, there are more anime that is a lot more horrifying than Satsuriku no Tenshi.
Corpse Party comes to my mind as I write this.

In a nutshell, the people who say that Satsuriku no Tenshi doesn’t feel like a horror anime are expecting the anime to be so gory that it will make their stomach churns.
For them, seeing someone being stabbed in the head with a scythe isn’t gory enough.
But for some people, being stuck in a building with people wanting to kill you on every floor is disturbing enough. Let’s not forget that each of them has a specific fetish that is beyond our wildest obsession.
If you’re asking me from the industry perspective, yes, Satsuriku no Tenshi is a horror anime.
But whether it’s up to your tolerance or not is a different issue altogether.
Is the anime as bad as it seems?
According to people who played the game until the end, they say that there’s going to be a major turn as the story progresses.
If the anime adaptation stays true to the game, then I’m pretty sure that we’re bound to see the major turning point in the anime version as well.
They also say that the game itself is interesting enough for them to play until the end. So, they’re pretty excited about the anime.
Judging from what they say, it doesn’t look to me that Satsuriku no Tenshi is a bad anime. Even I also find the anime to be promising even though I never played the game before.
Of course, everyone is different. But I won’t brush this anime a complete dud until I watch it and judge it for myself.
In my opinion, the anime isn’t as bad as what most people are saying. I know that because there are quite a few anime who seems to be promising only to fall flat on our face in the end.
Whatever it is, just give it a try and see for yourself. You can always stop watching if you don’t like it.
